"Friday Night Live" Luncheon at Hadleigh's

This Friday, April 27th, the Cancer Support Community of North Texas is hosting Friday Night Live at the Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park.
Chairpersons Lyssa & d'Arcy Young, Laura & Rick Lear, Lane & John Ray and Lyle Jackson hosted a intimate luncheon at Hadleigh's in Highland Park Village to kick off the event!
From the champagne and the hors 'douerves to the beautiful Spring weather, this luncheon was a perfect way to get ready for Friday's big event!
Flowers were brought over from the wonderful Avant Garden and the food was provided by Festive Kitchen. Their tea sandwiches are tasty enough to make you want to go back for seconds and thirds!
The raspberry, lemon and caramel macaroons didn't last long as guests sipped and shopped around the beautiful store.

Hadleigh's fitted Kim for this great blue and white gingham top. Did you see it on her Saturday Style post over here?
Classic and cool. Hadleigh's combines the taste of luxury while remaining so on-point with current trends.
Hadleigh's signature line of slippers.
Their dresses are going on our list of Summer go-tos. Easy and chic!
Once you get one of Hadleigh's shirts, you will want it in every color! The quality and craftsmanship of these pieces are impeccable.
Make sure you stop by and let Buffy show you how to roll your sleeves the "Hadleigh's" way. She's a style pro!
It was the most wonderful occasion to kick off Friday Night Live!
A very big thank you to Ed and Gable at Hadleigh's for making this such a special event!

Happy Earth Day!

Sunday was Earth Day and we couldn't have had better weather for it!

I try to be as eco-friendly as possible, and I want to share with you some of the ways I go green!

Shopping eco-friendly fabrics, driving a hybrid and buying vintage are all great ways to be more green. One of my favorite vintage shops is Vintage Martini in Carrollton. There are so many fantastic pieces in their store. Don't forget the simple things too; recycling and buying local produce are other great ways you can be more eco-friendly year-round!

Saturday Style: Shopping at Hadleigh's

Nothing like beautiful Spring weather to make shopping in Highland Park Village an extra special treat!

I'm crazy about this top from Hadleigh's! The ruffles are so feminine and the blue gingham is perfect as we head into Summer. Make sure you stop by the store and let Buffy show you how to roll your sleeves the Hadleigh's way!

Isn't this Celine bag to die for? I couldn't find mine on their website, but I found one that's similar and still has a great bright yellow color!

Pair it with some white jeans and Jimmy Choos and you're ready to go!

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, and we'll see you back here next week for some more Spring stylings!

Got to Have it: Smythson Notebooks

Graduation is right around the corner, and I cannot believe my youngest sister, Krystal, is about to finish her undergrad! Where does the time go? Have you seen her fantastic blog?  I am so proud of her!

Believe it or not, my other sister Kari, is graduating with her MBA on the same day!

I've been on the search for the perfect gift to celebrate, and I ran across this adorable "Superstar" notebook by Smythson.

Kari, Krystal, and I are all huge Smythson fans.  We love the Soho Diary they make and can't wait to pick out a new color every time the end of the book arrives!  This notebook is such a fun gift for any grad as they make that daunting transition into the "real world." Not only will it help equip them to handle the unexpected, but it just might bring a sweet smile to their face any time they feel overwhelmed.

Pop by tomorrow to see some Saturday Style!

Packing 101: Rimowa Luggage

With Summer vacation right around the corner, a lot of you will be packing up the family and heading to the destination of your choice. I will actually be heading to China for two weeks, and I couldn't be more thrilled! As I gradually start the packing process, I want to share with you some of my "go-to's" for any trip.

Now I know it isn't the most fashionable-looking line, but trust me, these bags are amazing! I do a lot of traveling for Southern Living, and I would always have to check my bags. Now, everything fits. I can pack for a two-week trip using just one bag, and the best part, I can carry it onto the plane with me. Pretty unbelievable right? They are also so sturdy. If you are a frequent traveler and are worried about ruining your luggage, these would be a wonderful alternative.

Check out some of the stars that are loving these bags too!

You'll have to let me know if you try them out!

Do you have any "go-to's" when planning your vacations?

An Equestrian Graduation Party

I feel like the weekend flew by! Among all the business, I worked on finalizing a few details for an event we have coming up. If you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen that I asked you all for ideas for an equestrian-themed graduation party, and wow, you all delivered!
An Equestrian-themed Inspiration Board

We were very inspired by Hermes, and felt the bright orange and chocolate combination was so elegant. We also added in a really beautiful apple green to brighten up the space in the venue. It will be a seated dinner with personalized touches here and there to really celebrate our guest of honor's many accomplishments!

Thank you to everyone who tweeted your ideas. We are really looking forwarded to the event!

I just love this photo of Jaqueline Kennedy lighting the candles of her table that I found on Pinterest.  Isn't it inspiring?

Happy Easter!

Whew!  I finally have a minute to sit and sort through some of the highlights of our egg hunt and make a proper post!  I had such a great time this year and we doubled our guest count!  It was so much fun as I absolutely subscribe to the "More the Merrier" party mantra.  Here are a few of our event highlights:

The tables were covered in Lilac ticking stripe from La Tavola linen rentals.  It was a great base for our centerpieces made up of large round (23") trays covered in sheet moss.  On top of the moss we placed faux chocolate bunnies made from old bunny molds.  I found them on Etsy and the talented Darlene Hinrichsen made them in ceramic!  There were three different styles and we placed one of each on every table.  Between the bunnies we placed mason jars filled with various purple flowers.  Jars were filled with Tulips, sweet peas, and hyacinths and randomly placed around each tray.

We added a face painter at my four year old son's request this year!  I requested that the kids choose Easter motifs but little guy talked the face painters into turning his entire face into Spiderman!
The children's tables were covered in brown ticking stripe and doodle paper.  Little birch boxes filled with birch crayons were placed around the tables.

One of the hits at every party are the vanilla cupcakes topped with peeps!  So easy!
Our Easter Bunny Mascot was a hit!  He entertained the children and then led them to the start of the egg hunt!
My very helpful husband and mischievous little son were great sports and dressed the part to match our color-scheme!
Here are a few quick picks from yesterday's Easter Egg Hunt!  I hope you are having a wonderful Easter with your family and friends.
God Bless!
